1. Wawa Welcome America
It doesn’t get more South Jersey and Philly than this. For America’s 250th birthday, Philly’s annual July 4th celebration extends from June 19 all the way through July 4.
Highlights of Wawa Welcome America include free access to one Philly museum every day during this period, starting with the African American Museum in Philadelphia on June 19 (Juneteenth). There’s also a free gospel show, with performers including the legendary Kirk Franklin, at Independence National Historical Park on June 28. Two days later, drag icon Trixie Mattel will host the annual free Philadelphia Orchestra Pride Concert at the Kimmel Center on June 30.
As always, the grand finale is the big concert on the Ben Franklin Parkway on July 4th. Philly’s own Will Smith, The Roots, and Jill Scott will perform alongside longtime pop sensation Christina Aguilera. 2. Battleship New Jersey Independence Day Fireworks
This 250th birthday event is the best of both worlds. Camden’s Battleship New Jersey is stationed in the Delaware River, giving you views of the Philly skyline from South Jersey’s most stunning waterfront. The museum within the battleship is worth visiting year-round, but it’ll really be something special this July 4th, when Independence Day fireworks, live music, and delicious eats combine into an evening spectacle. 4. Haddonfield Borough Block Party & Drone Show
Our neighbors in Haddonfield are celebrating America 250 a touch early with a big bash the day before July 4th. The Haddonfield Borough Block Party & Drone Show takes over the town from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with the festivities divided into two parts.
The morning portion is the usual Independence Day parade that moves half a mile along Kings Highway from Chestnut Street to Haddonfield Memorial High School. Expect a major presence from local organizations and community groups alongside a fleet of classic cars.
Then, starting at 5 p.m., downtown Haddonfield from Haddon Ave to the PATCO Bridge becomes a massive block party. Jam out with the Springsteen and Tom Petty tribute act Born to Run Down the Dream, chow down at food trucks and Haddon Ave. restaurants, explore local shops, and enjoy all kinds of games! You’ll learn about Paulsboro’s history through living history presentations, including a tent about women’s rights in 1776. Local food vendors will be on-site too, sprinkling the present in with the historic.

7. FIFA World Cup Round of 16 Knockout Stage / World Cup 2026 Final
On July 4th, nearly three weeks of Philly-hosted World Cup games end with a big-deal Round of 16 match at The Linc (which is basically our second home during football season). This mini-tournament pits a bunch of teams against each other until the final two teams face off for the chance to move on to the quarter-finals in Boston.
Whichever team takes the W in Boston advances to the semi-finals in Texas and Atlanta. Then, the finalists go for gold on Sunday, July 19 at New Jersey’s own MetLife Stadium just an hour and a half north from us on the NJ Turnpike. Adding the Round of 16 game to your America 250 itinerary gives you another exciting Garden State adventure just two weeks later. Although you can’t be on the field at the World Cup, you can still celebrate the country’s 250th birthday in sporty style at The Picklr in Manahawkin. Every Sunday in June and July, this pickleball court near LBI is hosting America250 open play sessions for intermediate and advanced players. Get your swing on, try out high-end new gear, and build Jersey community around a sport you love — and, while you’re at it, celebrate the semiquincentennial!
